A Travers Le Miroir
- Through the Mirror
Franco-Flemish chansons (printed by Attaingnant in 1533), new compositions and audio installations for traverso consort and lute
Cobined with interactive audio installations for both the public and the performers, Renaissance music and new compositions merge into a unique world of sound.
The Parisian music publisher Pierre Attaingnant suggested a transverse flute consort as instrumentation for many of the pieces in his 1533 Chanson print. Looking behind the often melancholy character of the pieces, all facets of human emotions are revealed - as if looking through the mirror of the courtly and bourgeois etiquette of the time. On the other hand, there are new compositions for traverso consort by the musician Mara Winter, which look back through the mirror to the works of the 16th century, in an extreme condensation of technical parameters such as breath, intonation and sound. Johanna Bartz added her interactive sound installations for the public’s smartphones, performers and live electronic.
